Does consuming sugar or dairy feed cancer cells? Should all carbohydrates be eliminated from a cancer patient's diet?
My mother is undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. Many WhatsApp messages and relatives are telling us to completely stop giving her milk, fruits, sugar, jaggery, and wheat because sugar feeds tumors. She is getting very weak and losing 1 kg every week. Is this medically true?

Medical Fact:
1. The Warburg Effect observed that cancer cells consume glucose quickly through glycolysis. HOWEVER, all healthy human cells (brain, heart, red blood cells, immune system) ALSO depend on glucose for survival. There is no biological mechanism by which you can starve tumor cells of sugar without starving her healthy vital organs and immune cells first.
2. When patients eliminate carbs and dairy, the body is forced to break down skeletal muscle to generate glucose (Cancer Cachexia / Sarcopenia). This leads to severe fatigue, low hemoglobin, neutrophil drops, and causes chemotherapy dosage reductions.
3. What she needs right now: Adequate high-protein nutrition (eggs, paneer, lentils, pulses, curd), whole grains, and seasonal fruits to tolerate chemotherapy. Minimize refined white sugar and processed pastries for general metabolic health, but never enforce starvation diets.
